The U.S. Marshals have a long history of providing assistance and expertise to other law enforcement agencies in support of fugitive investigations and apprehensions. The success of U.S. Marshals task force initiatives, combined with the outstanding relationships forged with other law enforcement agencies, has led to the formation of the permanent fugitive task forces in response to unique cases that pose immediate threat to the public. The task force focuses primarily on apprehending wanted violent crime suspects accused of crimes such as murder, sexual assault, rape, child pornography, robbery, and aggravated assault. The Harrisville Police Department currently has two members assigned to this Task Force as TFO’s (Task Force Officers).
