We believe in investing in our officers and training them to become future leaders. Each year, we conduct three firearms shoots a year and provide training in autism awareness, de-escalation techniques, and eight hours of defensive tactics led by POST-certified instructors, as well as certified Gracie Survival Tactics instructors. Our officers also participate in periodic Tactical Medic training. Additionally, we utilize our own training simulator, which offers access to over 900 scenarios, allowing for ongoing training in decision-making skills through real-life Scenarios. During the 2024/2025 training year, our officers averaged 115 hours of training, significantly exceeding the required 40 hours. Most of these training hours were obtained from in-person classes rather than online courses.

Our officers are equipped with FN 509 MRD pistols featuring slide-mounted optics (RDS) and weapon-mounted lights. We provide FN-15 AR-style rifles that are outfitted with Reflex Optics and weapon-mounted lights. Because we’re a smaller agency, we know each other well—and that’s a huge advantage. We train together, back each other up, and genuinely care about one another. That closeness builds trust, teamwork, and a culture where you’re never just a badge number. You’re part of something real. We have the support of our citizens and they trust our department to be transparent and professional.
